The Mop dance AI trend, starring you, from one full-body photo

Updated

Late at night at a gas station, a car meet has gathered under the lights. A maroon sedan door swings open, you climb out, and you do the Mop right there on the lot: crouched low, feet scrubbing side to side, arms swinging, lower and lower, then you stand up and brush off your shoulder. Upload one full-body photo and get the whole thing back as a vertical video, ready for the trend sound.

The 5 scenes

  1. 1. Out of the car

The driver's door of a maroon sedan swings open under the gas station lights, and you step out onto the lot.

  2. 2. The Mop

Knees bent, leaning in, you scrub your feet side to side across the concrete with your hands swinging along.

  3. 3. Arms out

From low down, the arms go wide: you swing them out from one side to the other while your feet keep scrubbing.

  4. 4. All the way down

Right by the car you sink as low as you can go, still scrubbing, lower on every beat.

  5. 5. Brush it off

You stand up by the car, flick the dust off your shoulder and hold the look into the lens.

What the Mop dance trend is

The Mop is not new. It is a dance from the 2019 song "The Mop" by TisaKorean, Kblast and Huncho Da Rockstar: you crouch low and scrub your feet side to side across the floor, as if you were mopping it, with your hands held one above the other and swinging along. It became a TikTok staple, and in 2023 it came back as "Mop the Ocean", a caption meme set to the same moves.

This round started with one real clip posted on 6 October 2026 with the caption "Moppin": seventeen seconds, one take, late at night at a gas station where a car meet has gathered. A dark maroon sedan is parked under the canopy, the door opens, a man climbs out and does the Mop on the lot beside it, sinking lower and lower, with parked cars and onlookers behind him. Within days people were using AI to put someone else in his place, a grandmother, a dog, themselves, and the "mop mop mop" car meet clip spread as the Mop dance AI trend.

How this generator makes yours

The video is made as five shots from one full-body photo: out of the car, into the Mop, the arms swinging wide, all the way down beside the car, and a shoulder brush to finish. Each shot starts as a still picture drawn from your photo, so your face and your outfit stay the same from the car door to the last frame, and a video model then sets it moving. The stills are drawn to look like a friend filmed it on the lot at night, handheld and a little grainy, because a polished version would stop being the meme.

Each finished video runs 16 seconds at 1080 by 1920, with an original hip-hop instrumental made for this template and a small AI-generated label in the corner. There are no captions burned in, so any text on top is yours to add on TikTok. It takes a few minutes and costs 80 credits from a credit pack or paid plan.

The sound, the car and the gas station

The sound is not in the file. The clip's own audio and the song the dance is named after belong to the people who made them, so we do not put either in a video we make for you, and we did not make a sound-alike: the instrumental in the file is ours, a bouncy 120 beats a minute, and every cut falls on a bar of it. You add the trend sound on TikTok when you post, as everyone on the trend does, which also lists your post under the sound with every other video on the trend.

Nothing in the video belongs to anyone else either. The car is a made-up maroon sedan with no badge, emblem or plates, kept side-on so it never turns into a real make, and the gas station has plain white pumps and a plain white canopy with no brand on them. The people around the lot are drawn by AI and stay far in the background. angles.video is not affiliated with the artists behind "The Mop" or with the creator of the original clip.

How to make a Mop Dance video yourself

You do not need this page to make one. This is how the video is put together, with the prompts for every shot, so you can build it with any picture model and image-to-video model you like.

  1. Step 1

Draw one still per shot from a full-body photo

Use a picture model that takes a reference photo and draw five stills from the same full-body photo: in the open car door, crouched into the dance, arms out wide, all the way down by the car, and standing up to finish. Describe the car, the canopy and the pumps the same way every time so the place does not change between shots.

  2. Step 2

Animate each still with the dance in words

Give each still to an image-to-video model with the moves spelt out: knees bent, feet sliding out and back in quick scrubbing shuffles from side to side, hands one above the other swinging along. Ask for one continuous handheld shot with no cuts, and for the last one, a flick of the shoulder and then a dead stop.

  3. Step 3

Cut a bar apart on the beat

Pick a beat around 120 a minute, so a bar is two seconds. Trim the car door to one bar, the Mop, the arms and the low drop to two bars each, and the finish to one, then lay them end to end at 9:16 with hard cuts. Add the trend sound on TikTok when you post.

10–14s

All the way down

A close full-body shot of you crouched very low beside the car, still scrubbing, sinking lower on every beat.

14–16s

Brush it off

A full-body shot of you standing by the car, flicking off one shoulder and then holding still, looking into the lens.

The prompts, shot by shot

Each shot is made in two steps. Give its still prompt to a picture model with your photo as the reference, then give the picture it draws to an image-to-video model with the motion prompt. Add these endings to every prompt: they set the look and keep the faces the same from shot to shot.

End of every still prompt

Keep each person's face, facial features, skin tone, hairstyle and build exactly as in their reference photo, so they are instantly recognisable. Keep each person the same gender and age as in their photo; never swap who is who. A candid still from real-looking handheld night footage filmed by a friend standing on the lot: the hard white light of the canopy overhead, slightly soft focus, visible low-light grain, an everyday look rather than a cinematic one, vertical 9:16. The scene fills the whole frame edge to edge: no screen, viewfinder, bezel, notch or border in the picture. No text, no captions, no watermark, no logos.

End of every motion prompt

One continuous shot with no cuts. Keep the people looking exactly as in the first frame. No text.

  1. 0–2sOut of the car

    Still prompt

The person in the reference photo, in their own clothes from the photo, has just climbed out of a modern dark maroon four-door sedan that is no real make or model, low and sleek, with a glossy finish, tinted windows and black wheels, with no emblem, badge, logo, ornament or writing anywhere on it and no license plates, its driver's door swung wide open. They stand with both feet on the concrete in the open doorway, one hand resting on the top of the door, facing the camera with a cool, confident look. A wide shot from about four metres away: the person and the open door are in frame, head to toe, shoes on the ground. The car is parked side-on to the camera, its long side in view and its front end out of frame past the edge of the picture. The scene is a gas station forecourt late at night: a plain all-white canopy overhead, with no coloured band along its edge, lit by rows of flat white lights, a row of plain all-white fuel pumps with no stripes, colours, brand, logo, sign or writing on them, and the wide concrete lot around it, where a car meet has gathered, with shiny parked cars in a row along the edge of the lot and a loose crowd of onlookers standing back by them. Nobody else is near the person: the onlookers stay far back by the parked cars, small and out of focus, and nobody else dances.

    Motion prompt

They step out from the doorway, swing the car door shut behind them with one hand and stride two steps toward the camera onto the open lot, rolling their shoulders, ready to dance. The camera holds steady, handheld. They do not talk, sing or mouth any words.

  2. 2–6sThe Mop

    Still prompt

The person in the reference photo, in their own clothes from the photo, stands on the open concrete lot in front of a modern dark maroon four-door sedan that is no real make or model, low and sleek, with a glossy finish, tinted windows and black wheels, with no emblem, badge, logo, ornament or writing anywhere on it and no license plates, knees bent and crouched a little, leaning forward, both hands held loosely one above the other in front of their waist, a cool, focused look. A full-body shot from about three metres away, seen head to toe, shoes on the concrete. Motion prompt

They dance to a bouncy hip-hop beat: knees bent low and back leaning a little forward, they slide their feet out and back in short quick scrubbing shuffles, sweeping from side to side across the concrete, hands held loosely one above the other in front of them and swinging side to side with every scrub. Their head nods on the beat and their whole body bounces with it. The camera holds them head to toe, handheld. They do not talk, sing or mouth any words.

  3. 6–10sArms out

    Still prompt

The person in the reference photo, in their own clothes from the photo, is crouched low with knees bent wide, one foot sliding out to the side, dancing on the open concrete lot beside a modern dark maroon four-door sedan that is no real make or model, low and sleek, with a glossy finish, tinted windows and black wheels, with no emblem, badge, logo, ornament or writing anywhere on it and no license plates, both arms swung out wide to one side at shoulder height, chin up, a cool, confident look. A full-body shot from low down and slightly to one side, about three metres away, their whole figure in frame from hands to shoes. The car is parked side-on to the camera, its long side in view and its front end out of frame past the edge of the picture. Still dancing on the beat, knees bent low and back leaning a little forward, they slide their feet out and back in short quick scrubbing shuffles, sweeping from side to side across the concrete, hands held loosely one above the other in front of them and swinging side to side with every scrub. Now the arms swing wide from one side to the other, out to shoulder height. The camera stays low and drifts slowly around them. They do not talk, sing or mouth any words.

  4. 10–14sAll the way down

    Still prompt

The person in the reference photo, in their own clothes from the photo, is crouched very low on the concrete right beside a modern dark maroon four-door sedan that is no real make or model, low and sleek, with a glossy finish, tinted windows and black wheels, with no emblem, badge, logo, ornament or writing anywhere on it and no license plates, knees deeply bent, back leaning forward over their knees, both hands held loosely one above the other low in front of their shins, a cool, focused look. A full-body shot from about two metres away, their whole crouched figure in frame from head to shoes, the side of the car filling the background. The car is parked side-on to the camera, its long side in view and its front end out of frame past the edge of the picture. Nobody else is near the person: the onlookers stay far back by the parked cars, small and out of focus, and nobody else dances.

    Motion prompt

They keep dancing as low as they can go: knees bent low and back leaning a little forward, they slide their feet out and back in short quick scrubbing shuffles, sweeping from side to side across the concrete, hands held loosely one above the other in front of them and swinging side to side with every scrub, sinking a little lower on every beat, then bouncing back up halfway. The camera holds steady, handheld. They do not talk, sing or mouth any words.

  5. 14–16sBrush it off

    Still prompt

The person in the reference photo, in their own clothes from the photo, stands up straight on the concrete right beside a modern dark maroon four-door sedan that is no real make or model, low and sleek, with a glossy finish, tinted windows and black wheels, with no emblem, badge, logo, ornament or writing anywhere on it and no license plates, flicking the fingertips of one hand across the opposite shoulder as if brushing off dust, looking straight into the lens with a cool, satisfied look, mouth closed. A full-body shot from about three metres away, seen head to toe, shoes on the concrete.

They give the shoulder one last cool flick of the fingertips, then stand completely still, holding the look into the lens. The camera stops and holds still. They do not talk, sing or mouth any words.

Where it goes wrong

  • Use a full-body photo, not a selfie

The Mop is footwork, and the whole video shows you head to toe. From a head-and-shoulders photo the model has to make up your trousers and shoes, and with each still drawn on its own it can make them up differently every time. One photo with your whole body in it, in good light, keeps the outfit the same throughout.

  • Do not say "mop"

A picture model draws what you name, and the dance is named after a cleaning tool. Ask for "the Mop" and you may get someone holding an actual mop. Describe the moves instead, the crouch, the scrubbing feet and the swinging hands, and say the hands are empty and loose.

  • Keep the car side-on and the brands off

Ask for a dark red sedan and a picture model reaches for a real luxury make, grille and badge included, especially when the front of the car is in the shot. Say the car is no real make, with no badge or plates, park it side-on with its front out of frame, and ask for plain white pumps and canopy with no stripes or logo.

  • Keep the crowd in the background

A car meet needs people around it, but tell the model they stay far back by the parked cars and out of focus, and that nobody else dances. Otherwise a stranger turns up right beside you, or the whole crowd starts doing the Mop with you.

  • Only people who said yes

Use your own photo or one of someone who agreed. Do not use celebrities, the creator of the original clip, or anyone who has not agreed to be in the video: a realistic video of a real person made without their consent can hurt them, and platforms take it down.

  • Label it as AI-generated

Switch on TikTok's AI-generated content label before you post. A realistic clip of someone dancing at a car meet is exactly the kind people ask about, and viewers trust a post that says so.

Or skip all of it

How to post it on TikTok with the trend sound

  1. Step 1

    Download your video

Save the MP4 to your phone. It is already vertical, 1080 by 1920, so TikTok will not crop it.

  2. Step 2

    Start from the trend sound

Open a Mop dance car meet video on TikTok, tap the sound name at the bottom, then tap Use this sound and pick your video from Upload.

  3. Step 3

Turn our track down, line up the cuts

In Volume, turn Original sound to zero so only the trend sound plays. The cuts fall every two seconds; if they drift off the beat, tap the scissors by the sound and nudge its start until the first cut lands on one.

  4. Step 4

    Label it as AI-generated

Before posting, open More options and switch on the AI-generated content label. TikTok asks creators to label realistic AI-generated video, and viewers trust a post that says so.

Questions about the Mop Dance generator

What is the Mop dance AI trend?

A TikTok trend from October 2026 in which people use AI to remake a real car meet clip: late at night at a gas station, someone climbs out of a maroon sedan and does the Mop on the lot, crouched low with their feet scrubbing side to side. The AI versions swap in someone else, from grandmothers to pets to the poster themselves.

Where did the Mop dance trend come from?

The dance comes from the 2019 song "The Mop" by TisaKorean, Kblast and Huncho Da Rockstar, and had a second life in 2023 as "Mop the Ocean". The car meet version started with one real clip posted on 6 October 2026 with the caption "Moppin", and the AI remakes followed within days.

How do you do the Mop dance?

Bend your knees and lean forward a little, hold your hands one above the other in front of you, and slide your feet out and back in quick little shuffles from side to side, as if you were mopping the floor, swinging your hands along with every scrub. Go lower as the song goes on. Or upload a photo here and let the AI do it for you.

Is there a prompt for the Mop dance AI video?

Yes, on this page: in the section on making one yourself, each of the five shots has the prompt for its still and the prompt that sets it moving. Here you do not need them: upload a full-body photo and the five shots are already written. Whichever way you make it, describe the moves rather than saying "mop", and keep the car side-on with no badge.

Is the song in the video?

No. Neither the song the dance is named after nor the original clip's sound is ours to put in your file, so the video comes with an original instrumental made for this template. Add the trend sound on TikTok when you post, and turn our track down to zero.

How much does a Mop dance video cost?

80 credits for one finished video, from a credit pack or paid plan. If a video fails to generate, the credits go straight back to your balance.

Can I use a photo of someone else?

Only of someone who has agreed to be in the video. Before you generate, you confirm that the photo is of you or of someone who said yes. Do not upload photos of celebrities, of the creator of the original clip, or of anyone who has not agreed: a realistic video of a real person made without their consent can hurt them, and it breaks our terms.

What photo works best?

One person standing, the whole body in frame from head to shoes, face clearly visible and looking roughly at the camera, in good light. The Mop is all footwork and the video shows you head to toe, so a full-body photo works much better than a selfie. Avoid sunglasses, heavy filters and group photos.

What happens to my photo?

It is used only to draw the five shots, and we delete it from our storage as soon as your video is finished or fails. The finished video stays in your account so you can download it again.
