The Outstanding AI meme, with you and two friends as the band
Updated
A band squeezed round a small desk in an office corner full of bookshelves: you belt the big note at the mic, one friend cracks up mid-song in close-up, the other takes the sax solo, and all three of you finish with fists in the air. Upload a photo of each of you and get it back as a vertical video, cut to the trend sound.

Make your Outstanding video
Upload a photo of each of the three of you, the lead singer first. You get all four shots cut to the trend sound in a few minutes, ready to post.
Checking your credit balance…
One Outstanding video costs 80 credits. Credits are refunded if generation fails.
1. The lead singer
Sits at the mic in the middle and belts the big notes. Give it to whoever will sell it hardest.
2. The one who laughs
Sings backup on the left, then gets the long close-up and cracks up. Give it to the friend with the best laugh.
3. The sax player
Sings backup on the right with a sax on a strap, then gets the solo.

The 4 scenes
1. The band
All three of you round a small desk in front of crammed bookshelves: the lead at the mic belting a big note and pumping a fist, the other two singing behind.
2. The laugh
Close on your friend from the left, lost in a long note. Then they turn to the camera, grin, and break into a huge laugh they cannot stop.
3. The sax
Your friend from the right takes the solo: a soaring run on a gold sax, eyes closed, a mic stand in the foreground, then the sax comes down from their lips.
4. Fists up
Back on the whole band: the lead holds the last big note with eyes closed, and all three of you throw a fist in the air on it.
What the Outstanding trend is
The source is a real concert, not an AI video: Charlie Wilson's Tiny Desk concert for NPR Music, published in June 2023, which ends with "Outstanding", the 1982 Gap Band hit he sang lead on. In the last twenty seconds the band is squeezed round the desk in front of crammed bookshelves, Wilson belting at the mic, then the camera cuts to a backing singer who is so into it they burst out laughing, then to the sax player, then back to everyone with their fists in the air.
On 18 October 2026 the TikTok account @theburnerfromhe11 posted an AI parody that put five college football coaches whose teams had just lost into that ending, and The Athletic wrote it up five days later. Remakes followed with NFL teams, streamers, group chats and coworkers. The joke is the contrast: the band looks like it is having the best day of its life, so whoever you swap in, the friend who just failed a driving test or the team that has not won all season, is suddenly having it too.
How this generator makes yours
The video is made as four shots from three photos: the band at the desk, the laugh in close-up, the sax solo and the band again with fists up. The original has five performers; here the lead singer is your first photo, the one who laughs sings backup on the left, and the sax player sings backup on the right with the sax on a strap, so three friends make the whole band. Each shot starts as a still picture drawn from your photos, so everyone looks the same in every shot, and a video model then sets it moving.
Every cut lands where the trend sound cuts, measured frame by frame: the laugh at 5.4 seconds, the sax at 11.8 and the band again at 15.15, so when you post with the sound the laugh and the solo arrive on time. The finished video runs 18.75 seconds at 1080 by 1920, with an original soul instrumental made for this template and a small AI-generated label in the corner. The singing is acted, not lip-synced to the song, so mouths open on the big notes rather than on every word. It takes a few minutes and costs 80 credits from a credit pack or paid plan.
Nothing to do with NPR
This page and the videos made here have nothing to do with NPR, the Tiny Desk concert series, Charlie Wilson or the Gap Band, and none of them has made, approved or sponsored any of it. Tiny Desk is the name of NPR's series, which is why this template is called a desk concert. No footage from the concert is used: the office corner in your video is drawn by the AI, with blank book spines, a plain keyboard and no logo, poster or writing anywhere.
The song is not in the file either. "Outstanding" belongs to its writers and label, and the clip people post over is the concert's own audio, so the video comes with our own instrumental and you add the trend sound on TikTok when you post. TikTok handles the licence for sounds in its library, and posting with the sound lists your video with every other one on the trend.
How to make an Outstanding video yourself
You do not need this page to make one. This is how the video is put together, with the prompts for every shot, so you can build it with any picture model and image-to-video model you like.
Step 1
Draw one still per shot from the three photos
Use a picture model that takes reference photos. The two band shots need all three photos, the laugh only the second and the sax only the third. Describe the office corner the same way in every still, the bookshelves, the desk, the keyboard and the mics, or the room changes between shots.
Step 2
Say who stands where
Name each person by the order you sent the photos: the person in image 1 sits in the middle at the mic, image 2 stands behind on the left, image 3 behind on the right with the sax. Say it again in the last shot, or people trade places between the first band shot and the last.
Step 3
Animate each still, then cut on the sound
Give each still to an image-to-video model with one line about what moves. Trim the clips so the cuts fall at 5.4, 11.8 and 15.15 seconds, where the trend sound cuts, lay them end to end at 9:16 with hard cuts, and add the sound on TikTok so the laugh and the solo land on time.
The shots, second by second
| Time | Shot |
|---|---|
| 0–5.4s | The band A wide shot from the front of the lead seated at the desk mic belting a note, a fist pumping, the other two standing behind and singing along. |
| 5.4–11.8s | The laugh A chest-up close-up of the friend from the left holding a soulful note, then turning to the lens with a grin and cracking up laughing. |
| 11.8–15.2s | The sax A close-up from slightly in front of the friend from the right playing a soaring run on a gold sax, eyes closed, a mic stand in the foreground. |
| 15.2–18.8s | Fists up The same wide shot of the band as the lead holds the last note with eyes closed and all three of you raise a fist high in the air together. |
The prompts, shot by shot
Each shot is made in two steps. Give its still prompt to a picture model with the photos listed for that shot as references, then give the picture it draws to an image-to-video model with the motion prompt. Add these endings to every prompt: they set the look and keep the faces the same from shot to shot.
End of every still prompt
Keep each person's face, facial features, skin tone, hairstyle and build exactly as in their reference photo, so they are instantly recognisable. Keep each person the same gender and age as in their photo; never swap who is who. A still from a real-looking live session video filmed in a small office, warm practical lamp light, natural everyday colours, crisp detail on the faces, a documentary feel rather than a music video or a stage show, vertical 9:16. The scene fills the whole frame edge to edge. No text, no captions, no watermark, no logos.
End of every motion prompt
One continuous shot with no cuts. Keep the people looking exactly as in the first frame. No text.
0–5.4sThe band
Photos to attach, in orderImage 1: The lead singerImage 2: The one who laughsImage 3: The sax playerStill prompt
A medium-wide shot of three people about to perform together, seen from the front and framed from the desk up, so their faces are large and clear, in a cramped, cosy office corner turned into a stage. Tall wooden bookshelves crammed with old books, vinyl records, potted plants and little keepsakes cover the wall behind, a small wooden office desk stands in front with a plain black electronic keyboard on it, microphones on black stands, and warm light from desk lamps. None of it has any logo, print or writing on it: the book spines, the record sleeves and the keyboard are blank. The person in image 1, in their own clothes from the photo, sits in the middle behind the desk at a microphone on a stand, one hand in a loose fist at chest height, eyes open, lips closed, face in full view. The person in image 2, in their own clothes from the photo, stands behind them on the left of the frame, eyes open, face in full view. The person in image 3, in their own clothes from the photo, stands behind them on the right of the frame with a gold tenor saxophone hanging from a strap at their chest, eyes open, face in full view. Each face comes from that person's own photo alone, never a mix of the three: the one at the microphone has exactly the face, gender and age of the person in image 1. Exactly these three people are in the picture; nobody else is in the room.
Motion prompt
The person at the microphone belts out a big, soulful note, eyes squeezing shut, and pumps a fist in time with the music; behind them the other two sing along with feeling, swaying and nodding to the beat. Everyone stays in their place, the one in the middle seated at the desk. The camera holds steady, with a slight handheld drift.
5.4–11.8sThe laugh
Photo to attachThe one who laughsStill prompt
A tight close-up of the person in the reference photo, in their own clothes from the photo, singing, their head and shoulders filling most of the frame, turned slightly to one side in three-quarter view, face toward the camera and in full view, eyes closed, mouth open mid-note, lost in the song. Behind them, tall wooden bookshelves crammed with old books, vinyl records and potted plants in warm lamp light, softly out of focus, with no logo, print or writing on any of it. The picture is upright and level, their head above their shoulders. Only this one person is in the picture; nobody else is in the room.
Motion prompt
They hold a long, soulful note with feeling for two seconds, then turn their face to the lens with a wide grin and break into a huge, helpless laugh, shoulders shaking, one hand coming up in front of their chest, still laughing at the end. The camera holds close, with a slight handheld drift.
11.8–15.2sThe sax
Photo to attachThe sax playerStill prompt
A close-up of the person in the reference photo, in their own clothes from the photo, playing a gold tenor saxophone, their head, shoulders and the top of the saxophone filling most of the frame, seen from slightly in front, the mouthpiece at their lips, both hands on the keys, eyes closed, face toward the camera and clearly visible. A microphone on a black stand stands in the foreground at the bottom of the frame, close to the bell of the saxophone.
They play a soaring, soulful run on the saxophone, fingers moving on the keys, swaying with it, and at the end of the phrase lower it from their lips with a satisfied look. The camera holds steady, with a slight handheld drift.

Where it goes wrong
Turn the faces toward the camera
The concert films the laugh and the sax side-on. A picture model drawing a face side-on tends to invent a new one, so draw both close-ups in three-quarter view with the face toward the camera, and keep the turn to the lens small. Put only blurred shelves behind them: given the whole room, a picture model draws the room with the singer small in one corner of it.
Give the laugh time to come
Asked for a laugh, a video model laughs from the first frame. In the trend the singer holds the note for a couple of seconds and only then cracks up, so ask for the note first and the laugh after it.
Check every face in the band shots
In a picture of three, a picture model can lose one face and draw a stranger in its place, often keeping only the hair and the clothes. Draw the band before the song starts, eyes open and mouths closed, framed close enough that the faces are big, and compare each face with its photo before you animate: redraw any that changed.
Nobody else in the room
A room full of instruments is exactly where a picture model adds a drummer or a fourth singer you never asked for. Say how many people are in each still and that nobody else is in the room.
Leave the logos and posters off
The real room is covered in posters and stickers and the keyboard has a brand on it. Ask for blank book spines, a plain keyboard and no logo, print or writing anywhere: someone else's trademark has no place in your video.
Only people who said yes
Use your own photos or those of friends who agreed. The first versions starred real coaches and athletes; do not use celebrities, public figures, or anyone who has not agreed to be in the video: a realistic video of a real person made without their consent can hurt them, and platforms take it down.
Label it as AI-generated
Switch on TikTok's AI-generated content label before you post. A realistic clip of people performing is exactly the kind viewers ask about, and they trust a post that says so.
Or skip all of it
Upload a photo of each person above and get the finished video back in a few minutes: drawn, animated, cut and scored, with the AI label already on it.
How to post it on TikTok with the trend sound
Step 1
Download your video
Save the MP4 to your phone. It is already vertical, 1080 by 1920, so TikTok will not crop it.
Step 2
Start from the trend sound
Open an Outstanding video on TikTok, tap the sound name at the bottom, then tap Use this sound and pick your video from Upload. The cuts are timed to the sound most remakes use, which starts on the lead's held note: the laugh should arrive 5.4 seconds in. If it is early or late, the sound has been trimmed differently, so line it up with the scissors.
Step 3
Turn our track down, add your caption
In Volume, turn Original sound to zero so only the trend sound plays. Most posts name who is in the band, like "my group chat after finals", so tag your friends, as long as they agreed to it.
Step 4
Label it as AI-generated
Before posting, open More options and switch on the AI-generated content label. TikTok asks creators to label realistic AI-generated video, and viewers trust a post that says so.
Questions about the Outstanding generator
What is the Outstanding AI video meme?
An AI meme built on the end of Charlie Wilson's 2023 Tiny Desk concert for NPR Music, where he and his band perform the Gap Band's "Outstanding" round a cluttered office desk. It took off on 18 October 2026, when an AI version put five college football coaches who had just lost into the performance. Every remake keeps the same beats: the lead belting at the mic, a backing singer cracking up in close-up, the sax solo and fists in the air.
Is there an Outstanding AI template or prompt?
This page is the template: upload three photos and the four shots are already written and cut to the trend sound. If you would rather make it yourself, the section on building it has the prompt for every still and the prompt that sets it moving, the same ones our version starts from. Whichever way you make it, keep the faces toward the camera, the laugh after the note, and no logos in the room.
Is this affiliated with NPR?
No. Angles has nothing to do with NPR, the Tiny Desk concert series, Charlie Wilson or the Gap Band, and none of them has made, approved or sponsored this template. No footage from the concert is used: the office, the band and everything in the room are drawn by AI from your photos, with no logo or writing anywhere.
How much does an Outstanding video cost?
80 credits for one finished video, from a credit pack or paid plan. If a video fails to generate, the credits go straight back to your balance.
Is the song in the video?
No. The trend sound is the concert's own audio of "Outstanding", which we have no licence to put in your file, so the video comes with an original soul instrumental made for this template. Add the trend sound on TikTok when you post and turn our track down to zero: the cuts are timed to it.
Do the mouths match the words?
Not word for word. Versions made from the concert footage copy every mouth movement; this one is drawn from photos, so the singing is acted: mouths open on the big notes, the laugh comes where the laugh is, and the sax arrives with the solo. At the speed people watch it, it reads as the band belting along.
Can I use photos of other people?
Only of people who have agreed to be in the video. Before you generate, you confirm that each photo is of you or of someone who said yes. Do not upload photos of celebrities, athletes, coaches or anyone who has not agreed: a realistic video of a real person made without their consent can hurt them, and it breaks our terms.
What photos work best?
One person per photo, face clearly visible and looking roughly at the camera, in good light. The laugh and the sax are close shots, so the faces matter more than the outfits: head-and-shoulders photos work better than full-body ones taken from far away. Avoid sunglasses, heavy filters and group photos.
What happens to my photos?
They are used only to draw the four shots, and we delete them from our storage as soon as your video is finished or fails. The finished video stays in your account so you can download it again.
How long does it take?
Usually three to six minutes: about a minute to draw the four shots, a few minutes for the video model to animate them, and under a minute to cut them together. You can leave the page open and the video appears when it is ready.
Every video on this page, and every video made here, is AI-generated: the people in it are drawn by an AI model from the photos uploaded.
